Credit where credit is due

My husband is awesome. It's true. And the fact of the matter is I don't say it enough. On Sunday I left the kids with Dan and went to a Southern Living party and a friend's house who is the wife of someone Dan works with (Will). While I was at the party and all us gals were joking about our husbands and motherhood and the Navy and staring at extremely overpriced cookware and decorative pottery some touchy subjects came up.
The "who really has it harder" controversy between stay at home moms and the working dad. Now of COURSE we all know that us SAHM have it alot harder. (sheepish grin) But I got to have a little perspective into the life of the working dad via Will. He joked about how his wife at least gets naps during the day, can sleep in and wear pajamas until noon. But when it comes down to it, he said he did respect her for sacrificing and staying home with their daughter, but he has to deal with guilt of being away. All he wants is the acknowlegement that he works hard too and doesn't have it EASY. He works a full day and them comes home and has to hit the ground running.
Another friend of ours who also works with Dan was there as well, her name is Xandria. She stopped me before I left the party and said "I don't know if you know this or not, but Dan talks and thinks and worries about you and the kids all the time. I thought you might like to hear that." And I did.
It's easy as a SAHM to think my hubby is off enjoying the outside world and forgetting about me completely during the day. But he isn't, and that feels good. I went home and gave him a big hug and told him how much I appreciate him supporting our family the way he does.
So today I am going to put on my best 1950s wife impression, have a good home cooked meal waiting for him when he gets home, have him put up his feet and fix him a cocktail. Hee hee. Because I got a good man and I don't want him to think I forgot that.

Good spouses need a pat on the back now and then. So I will cut this short and go tell Betty how wonderful she is.

Yes, Dan is definitely a good man. Mike just got back from a Business trip in Washington DC.....as soon as he got home from his 20 hr. long travel time, he then had to deal with my gripes....he did, graciously and stroked me on the head until I fell asleep. Thanks for understandin' hun. Hey if you are interested in a VERY easy Chicken Pot Pie recipe, I'm going to post it up soon. I call it a white trash recipe just because of the ingredients but seriously, it's good. The recipe has spread throughout homes here in the mommmy group and I think it will become one of my weekly things.

Mimi - you know what? We did.

Ms L - it was a wonderful thing to hear. It's always nice to hear things from other people.

I was nice to her 3 times and 3 times she gets pregnant. I'm not being nice anymore to her.

I'm glad you got to have some time away.

I stayed home for 11 years, then by no choice of mine, got thrown back out into Full Time work- it's been wild! I much prefer to work for my family than for some boss outside the home. It feels good to earn a little money, but not getting to spend much quality time with the family has been painful at best. My hubby and children have already stated that they don't like me working and as soon as our situation changes, I'll be home again or at least cut back to Part Time work.

SAHM's are very important!!!!!
