Oblivious and Greedy = Mr. and Mrs. Cain

I make it easy for my husband. He asks me what I want for Christmas. I tell him. I usually find EXACTLY that under the tree. My husband's policy? Must. Not. Deviate. From. The. List. (His mother taught him that, she gets pissy if we don't get her the one and only thing she requests for Christmas) I like to spice it up and be surprised. This year I agreed that neither of us wanted anything. I lied.
So I am flipping through a brochure we got in the mail. There was a scratch off coupon for anywhere from 5-60% off when you make your purchase. Hubby has to buy his mom a gift from that store anyway so I cut it out and kept flipping. Then I decided ah heck...let's help him out a little and I started circling things I like with big hearts and smiley faces. It didn't end there. When he came home I pushed it gently towards him. When that didn't work I actually and literally shoved it in his face and said..."Oooh pretty...I LIKE this...."
What is on the kitchen table after he left for work? That damn brochure. Oh well. Good thing I have 25 more days to convince him...

HA HA HA- you crack me up!!! This year- unlike most years, there is actually only one thing I want. I've had my eye on this Mystic Fire Topaz ring for a year now. I put my 12 yr. old up to showing it to him and saying, "Dad, this is what Mom wants for Christmas". She said he just said, "oh". I would LOVE to have a piece of jewelry from him, but it may never happen. I didn't even get an engagement ring for cryin' out loud! Se we'll see.

Maybe I should get him 2 gifts. The chainsaw he's been wanting and a pair of fuzzy slippers and which he gets depends on whether or not I like my gift from him this year.

(Can you hear my wicked laughter?)

That's hilarious. Maybe it has to smack him in the face in order for it to work?
And if it doesn't, kick him in the mouth...

I told my husband not to get me anything. We are broke.

I hope yours catches the clue.

THat's so funny that his mom gets pissy. I grew up in a family where you made your lists... And then my mom would totally cheap out and not get you ANYTHING from the list. The results? Are that you got this crap you'd never use... So I have to admit I'm like your hubby's mom in that if I mention I want an exact brand or model of something, I want exactly that.

Hey, at least you get stuff for Christmas... Once we got engaged, gift giving occassions became "hit or miss." Mostly miss -- as in not one gift...

Wow, if only what I asked for got done on the first request. And yes, it was done the next day.

Alan is like that. I love the man to death, but he can really SUCK at birthdays and holidays. He always says, "I buy you things when I want too, when I feel the urge, not because the calendar tells me so".

The bad part (or good) he is right, he does bring home flowers of things for no reason. I guess I'll keep him
