Well, you all were right. After about round 4 with Red yesterday. she broke and made up with me. I won the battle of wills again. Man that is tough. I had to bring out the big guns on this one. I called my mom. "What do I do? What do I do?"
I'm lucky I have those kind of parents that were great examples and I WANT to raise my kids the way they raised us. It really helps in those moments of desperation when you are thinking "Am I raising a hellion?" to know you can call on your mom and dad to guide you through. They don't meddle. They don't get too involved but they give advice when I ask and are always cheering me on from the sidelines. Discipline coaches if you will.
After a few stern discussions and several time outs that ended in more sass, Red finally poked her head out of her room and came to me and said, "I love you mommy. I'm sorry I'm a spectacle." (translation - I'm sorry I was disrespectful). VICTORY!
One of the #1 things I have learned from you is NEVER let them sass you. Man that is hard with a certain little redhead. But I figure if I get on it now, I won't have a disrespectful teenager. I hear little kids at the grocery store sassing their mom and my butt STILL hurts thinking, what would MY mom have done if I had dared to talk like that? LOL!
Anyway, thanks mom. I'm sorry I was sassy in my 100 Things Post Part 2 about naming my dog Lois. I promise not to do that. I'm sorry I'm a spectacle.
Remember when we knew it all about raising kids? I miss that.
