Big Day for the Boys

Today is a big day for my boys. Whether they like it or not. Stinky has taken to pulling off his pants and diaper during the night or early in the morning and peeing...or pooping in his crib. So I decided THAT IS IT! Potty training time. So my face will be here all day....

Stinky is naked and thinks it is hilarious. I am hoping to get him to pee in the potty just once. From the look on his face I am thinking I am in for quite a battle. Pray for me folks....

Then there is Boo. He is almost 5 months old and refuses to try and roll over. He is a lump. He is so content in everything that he doesn't try anything new. So Red and I are laying on the floor trying to get him to roll. Red thinks demonstration is key...

I'm gonna whip these boys into shape if it is the last thing I do. Stay tuned for results at the end of the day. Go ahead...place your bets....

good luck with the potty training..when we were training Gaige I put some cheerios in the toilet and coaxed him to try to hit them when he peed! It worked!!! It was a game! Try it! Red is adorable in her picture! I bet she was a beautiful flower girl!

We just finished the whole potty training thing with Griffin. I admit I was too lazy to really work at it for a long time. But he has finally done it at 3 1/4 years old!!! Good luck, and make sure to do the happy dance when you don't have to buy 2 sets of diapers anymore!

Best of luck training Vincent. Josh is completely UNinterested in the porcelain stink-catcher. You'll have to let us know if you notice any big differences between the genders while training.

Yup, I'm doin the naked thing with him along with cloth training pants and bribery. Nothing is working. So frustrated. He hasn't had ice-cream and has been begging for it. Not until he uses the potty I say. Not working. I've cleaned up enough puddles to last a lifetime.

Oh no! The flashbacks! The horror!

Potty training. I feel for ya.

My son was about three when we started potty training. By then, the muscle control is in place, so I felt it was "safe." I did the Cheerios thing and it worked for improving his aim. To this day, we call the things Potty Cereal!

However, getting him to the potty was the trick! It just wasn't a priority to him. We tried Pull-Ups. No good. He saw them as just a different diaper, which they really are.

So, I put real underwear on him. It took two "accidents" for him to have had enough of that! Soggy underwear felt nasty and he wanted to avoid it at all costs. He made it to the potty from then on!

That's what the Cheerios really became significant....

Good luck!!!! And thanks for stopping by my site, too :o)

Good luck with that! People keep asking me if Leah is potty trained yet...Hello she isn't even 2 yet...what do they think I am super mom, because I am not.
Leah is not interested in the potty at all. But she will tell us when she needs to be changed and say "tank eww" (or in human speak, thank you) when we are done changing her.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you (ok, my legs too)

Catch - I have heard of that technique. I may try it...

Carolyn - thanks.

L - you got me scared now...

Domesticator - hair all in tact. We'll see how it goes today.

Mimi - Thanks! I think my Boo is gonna take his time too.

Dianne - I believe in letting them do it when they are ready. Vince has been trying to go on the potty for several months now. I've just been lazy too. And he is SO young. Alot of boys aren't 3 until they can go on the potty. Congrats on getting it done!

Mike and Nicki - I think I can tell which one is each of your comments. Hee hee. Savannah was a breeze to potty train. Vincent I think is doing a great job and the encouragement from his big sis is doing wonders to keep him interested. Josh will get it when he is ready. Of that I am sure. In the meantime, happy cleaning! Hee hee

Blogget - That is a really great way to train. I like the cheerios game. It makes it fun. At least I have tile floors... Thanks for coming by.

Weinraub family - People can keep it to themselves. When she is ready, she is ready and that is YOUR business. I find that irritating too. She sounds like she is a smart cookie...

I'm a firm believer in the whole "when they're ready" thing too. Both my kids potty trained themselves. I never used the little potties - they didn't see me sitting on it, why should they? We just took the seat off and put it on our own toilet.
For Evan, it was as soon as he stopped wearing the pull-ups and just had his bathing suit on (since it was summer). He didn't like feeling wet. For Olivia, it was when she was ready. Apparently pooping or pissing in her undies didn't matter to her - she was perfectly fine with whatever was running down her legs. Doesn't that just spell out "porn star"?

My little girl was an angel and was potty trained at 2 it took 2 days and then refused to go on a potty and insisted on useing the toilet. my little boy was a different story started potty training at 2 and a half had 2 buckets on the side 1 for clothes 1 for cleaning up. it took about a week for him to master wee's but poo's a different matter it has took a further 5 months to sort this, he just did it in his pants or on the floor if he had no pants on even if the potty was by his side. sought advice from health visitor who said "just ignore it don't make a deal of it he'll stop eventually you stopped did didn't you" we appear to have not got there now, though he does give us a full running commentry of what he his doing when pooing size, shape and colour. harry will be 3 late september.
