Grumble grumble GRRR

My husband's rightful owners called and they want him back. So I have to smile sweetly, pack him up and send him on his merry way while I stand and the door delighted to care for our 3 little darlings all on my own.
When Dan came over to his new command he warned me that he would have to travel now and again...a week here and there. Bull SH*T. I should have known. His owners lie all the time....lure you in and and slowly torture and kill you inch by inch. The NAVY! Dan was just gone in June, at that time he assured me that he wouldn't be going away again at least until after the fall. Now another trip has mysteriously come up and he is leaving in another few weeks. THEN he is scheduled to go out again in October. I had just swallowed that bitter pill when he comes home last night and tells me he "HAS TO" go to Hawaii in September for 2 weeks. HAWAII?????!?!?!?! So in the next 3 months he will be gone at least a month and half. And Hawaii?? How fair is that crap? I can handle the thought of him miserable on a ship somewhere or on some deserted Navy island, but this is just wrong. Have a nice vacation dear, I'll be sitting at home smiling like June Cleaver awaiting your return.

WOW....what a place to "have to" go. LoL. I'd probably be a little pissy myself over that. Maybe you could leave the kids with Grandma for a week and fly over and have a little honeymoon with him?

Dan's a helo pilot and has been in for 6 years. We haven't decided how long we'll stay in. It isn't too bad, we've been pretty lucky really. He's only been on 1 long deployment. The rest under 3 months.
He has about 2 1/2 more years to commit to. We'll see what happens as the time approaches.
Thanks for blogrolling me!

Hi Kristen! I like the new background on your blog- it's really cute, but I can barely read the little gray letters. Is it just my display? Is there any way to enlarge the print a little bit??

Sorry your man is off to the races again... I feel for ya, hang in there...

We've got an eye opening experience living here especially when so many of my friends have husbands that are away. Actually I've gotten pretty lucky in that I've befriended mostly Doctors wives and they're not like the nuerosurgens or anything but, dentists & derms. Which isn't to say that they are real doctors but, they don't usually have to work long abstract hours! I do know of someone who's husband high ranking but away a lot to sea. She's got an adopted son and just gave birth to a brand new baby boy. Unfortunately he is gone a lot and the older boy, who is about Josh's age actually about 5-6 months older has some searious rage when Daddy leaves. Her husband is a lifer. However, they do only have 4 more years until his retirement. In which she will be going back to work and he will be the stay at home Dad! So many many stories. I know of 2 women that have blogs who are Navy Spouses who's husbands are out to sea most of the time. Here's their links: http://squarepegs.typepad.com/Don't be discouraged by the first one....it's just a little bit of Japan pop culture. (Totally PG rated) Dive further in and she's got some great entries. Here's the other one: http://www.betweenrandomplanets.typepad.com/
They are also single. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a Navy mom who has a blog in this area. I am still looking!! I also know of a woman with 6 kidlets who moved here with her hubby. Now that is just wild! The plus side here for many spouses is the extra money can help when Dad is away they can afford to buy help which never replaces Daddy but, it helps. Plus, I'm always offering up my help & suggesting slumber parties. The rarity that only has one kid! Hey, Mike's planning on being gone for almost 2 weeks for a project he has to do in Okinawa.

Awww, poor Dan having to suffer through Hawaii. Maybe it's better he goes alone. You don't want to have any tropical romance induced pregnancy...

Yeah that Hawaii thing is just not fair! Sorry he's going to be gone so much; I've heard Navy ships their people out pretty frequently. Mine is air force and thankfully he hasn't had to go TDY/deploy to often...yet!

Watch it Jes! I don't take kindly to such ideas...
Michelle - It really isn't so bad. The bummer is that this is his shore duty and he is supposed to be home. Gr.
Nicki - thanks for the tips. It is hard sometimes but we survive it. I am so happy we are still in SD!!
